Dear fellow Police Officers and our friends,
It is with great sadness that I inform
you that one of our own, Roy Wells, has been stricken with ALS, also
known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
ALS is a crippling disease, and is
terminal. Roy has been a Police Officer with Maple Shade Township
for many years, currently serving in the D.A.R.E. Program, and his
father is a retired Sergeant. He is also the Vice-President of our
PBA Local 267. Roy is married with 3 children.
I am writing to you to ask for your
help.
There will be numerous benefits held for
Roy’s family as they cope with his illness. The first will be a
family night at Friendly’s Restaurant on Rt 130 South in Cinnaminson,
NJ, on Monday evening, July 18, 2005.
The second will be a night of food and
refreshments at Jays Elbow Room, Rt 73 North, in Maple Shade, NJ, on
Monday evening, July 25, 2005. Jays has also graciously agreed to
raffle off a TV to help this cause.
All proceeds from these two nights will
benefit the “Roy Wells Fund”, and will help Roy’s family when
Roy is too sick to work any more.
If you can spare the time and a few
dollars, please come to either or both of these events to help out a
friend in need. I am sure you will have an enjoyable evening at both.
If you cannot attend, and would like to
make a donation, please make checks payable to the “Roy
Wells Fund” c/o Maple Shade PBA Local 267, PO Box 383, Maple Shade,
NJ 08052.
Thank you in advance and I hope to see as
many people possible at these fundraisers.
Sincerely,
Mark W. Woodland
President, PBA Local 267
